- Your NEW Magnaware Cookware
- Before first use, wash the cookware thoroughly with hot, soapy water
- Rinse and dry thoroughly
- You can “condition” the interior with cooking oil. Apply the oil, then remove excess oil with a dry paper towel. It’s not necessary to add this step, however, it can keep your Magnaware Cookware looking shiny
2. Cooking with your Magnaware Cookware
- Preheat the cookware before adding the food to it (on the stovetop or in the oven)
- Avoid boiling plain water as the aluminum is highly reactive and can oxidize easily. The discoloration of the metal will only be cosmetic and will not cause damage, but it will be difficult to remove.
- Avoid cooking (or storing afterward) highly acidic foods (such as tomato sauce) or highly salty foods as they can cause pitting and add a metallic flavor to your dish
- Add the salt to foods after it reaches boiling point so it can fully dissolve as undissolved salt can cause pitting
- You can use the cookware in a preheated oven, as long as you follow the temperature guidelines.
- Dutch Oven pots are safe up to 450°F (232°C)
- Stock Pots up to 350°F (177°C) if you are using the lids with plastic knobs. If you place the stock pot without the lid it is safe up to 450°F (232°C) just like the Dutch Oven pots
- Use plastic, nylon, or wooden utensils, and avoid metal ones as they can scratch your cookware
3. Cleaning and caring for your Magnaware Cookware after cooking
- It’s always best to remove remaining cooked food and clean soon after use
- Avoid storing foods for prolonged periods in the pot as some acidic foods and salt can cause pitting and discoloration
- After each use wash in warm soapy water by using Bar Keepers Friend, Bon Ami, or other similar products and a Brillo Pad
- Always dry immediately after use to preserve the bright sheen
- Avoid soaking in plain water for prolonged periods
- Clean stubborn burnt layers by soaking the pot in a solution of equal parts water and vinegar for a few hours and then scrub or brush with a non-abrasive material to remove the residue
- To avoid pitting when boiling eggs or water, add a spoonful of vinegar to the water
