We treat each piece with 100% grapeseed oil. It is then baked for several hours. This produces a bronze color as a base coat to your seasoning. It will darken with time and exposure to high heat as you use it. The seasoning is not a “Non-Stick” coating. It is used to prevent corrosion. Seasoning comes and goes with use. You may need to occasionally apply a thin layer of oil to the outside of your waffle maker, then wipe it off as best you can, prior to cooking to refresh your seasoning. Then the inside will stay seasoned as you use it.
